In June 2006 I went to the emergency room at a local hospital in Forth Worth, Texas with extreme pain in the mid section area of my stomach. The nurses took me to the back in the ER very quickly and was later examined by the attending physician. He ordered what seemed like an eternity of tests, from blood being drawn to a CT scan. After all the tests had come in the doctor came to my bedside and told me that he was admitting me, that something was wrong with my liver and further tests needed to be made.
I spent 4 long days in the hospital and was tested for what seemed like every disease on the planet. The attending physician on my case finally told me that I had liver disease and needed to see a specialist. I waited almost 2 months to see the liver specialist because his schedule was booked solid for almost 2 months. When the day finally came and I got to talk to the doctor he broke the news to me. "Tom, you have end-stage liver failure. You need to get your affairs in order. I would suggest you call your family."
The news hit me like a ton of bricks had fallen on me. I was devestated. How could this happen to me? I didn't drink, smoke, and have never done illegal drugs in my life. I was tested for all types of other diseases that may have been linked to it and all came up negative. How could this be? How could this be happening to ME?
The doctor told me that I needed to get on a liver transplant list as soon as possible. I asked him what would happen if I didn't get the transplant and he told me that I may possibly live for 4 years, but that I would die without the transplant. I thanked him and told him before I left, "Doctor, I appreciate your honest medical opinion, however I don't receive your report. I am going to a higher physician, the one who created my body."
I cried out to the Lord and asked Him to heal my liver and he did. I had prayer warriors praying for me. My pastor prayed for me and other ministers that I knew prayed for my healing and God healed me! I know because several months later I saw another liver specialist who was assigned to my case. She told me that something had happened to my liver and it reversed itself and she didn't know what happened. I shared my story with her about the healing grace of God and that Jesus healed me. She told me, "Well, whatever it is that you are doing, keep doing it."
I shouted for joy that day because I know the one who is the healer of the body, and his name is JESUS Christ of Nazareth.
He will heal you. I went to the Word of God and here are some of the Scripture verses that God gave me to stand on.
"...and with His stripes we are healed." (Isaiah 53:5);
"...they shall lay hands on the sick, and they shall recover." (Mark16:18);
"...healing all that were oppressed of the devil; for God was with Him." (Acts10:38);
"...for I am the Lord that healeth thee." (Exodus 15:26);
"He sent His word, and healed them, and delivered them from their destructions." (Psalm 107:20);
"Beloved, I wish above all things that thou mayest prosper and be in health," (3 John 2);
"I shall not die, but live, and declare the works of the Lord." (Psalm 118:17).
There are many other verses of Scripture that I could share with you as well. When Jesus was going about his day he healed everyone who came to Him with diseases and sicknesses. One woman was healed who just touched the hem of his garment. She had been sick for 12 long years and the doctors gave her no hope of recovery.
I want to encourage you today that if your are sick or have a disease of any kind, stand on the Word of God for your healing and beleive that He is healing you. I know it works. it worked for me. If God can heal me, and He is no respecter of persons, then He will heal you. God bless you. If you need prayer for anything, please contact me and I will pray for you.
To Your Success,
Tom
