Why I am Going

I have been asked by some of my friends, "Why do you want to go to another country to live and feed the children?"  My answer is simple, "To make a difference in the life of someone else because I care."

Last year I went to the Philippines on a ministry trip to teach a leadership conference.  I ended up speaking 5 times to 5 groups of pastors and leaders.  While I was there I was asked to go to a community to meet a leader.  When we arrived, I wasn't prepared for what I saw.  I was speechless!

That was not the only community that I visited where I witnessed people living in poverty beyond what I could imagine.  My heart was broken.  My mind was thinking of a time when I was homeless and lived on the streets for a short period of time.  Even then, I ate every day and found a homeless shelter to live in, so I know what it is like to be poor.  I made a life changing decision that I would go back and do something to help the people in these communities.

I am leaving on July 7 to fly to the Philippines to go back to these communities.  I need your help.  Please partner with me and give your most generous gift you can give.  It will make a difference in the life of a child.  It will make a difference in a community.

Can you give $10, $20, $50, $100 or even $1000 or more?  Your gift is fully tax deductible as a charitable donation.

Your gift will help make a difference!

You Can Make a Difference!

How would you feel knowing that by doing this one thing, you would make a lasting impact in the life of a hungry child?

Hi, my name is Tom Bice. In October 2013 on a trip to the Philippines to conduct a leadership conference, something happened, something so profound that it changed my life. A few days before I was scheduled to leave, a new friend asked me to go with him to an area of the city that was very poverty stricken. I'll admit, I was tired, having spoken five times in a week and I was almost ready to pack up and go to the airport. I really wanted to just rest for a couple of more days and enjoy the tropical climate and the slow paced days, as I knew when I got back to the United States that my days would be back to the hustle and bustle of work, phone calls and meetings.

My friend had been very gracious to me, so I consented to go not really knowing what I was going to see. We arrived unannounced and as we got out of the car, I couldn't believe my eyes. I was almost shocked. My friend looked at me and said, “Tom, the reason I brought you here was to show you that these people are being neglected by society. No one really cares about them. They don't have the skills needed to get good jobs and many are women and children just living their lives in despair, not knowing how they will eat from day to day.”

As we walked into the area where they lived, my friend showed me the only running water that they had coming from a pipe that ran freely into a canal. I was silent, not knowing what to say. My heart was broken for them. I had never seen anything like this. I had heard about it on the world news on TV, but until you see something like I was witnessing first hand in person, your mind is numb to the living conditions of other people in third world countries.

As we walked around, my friend introduced me to several adults and a dozen or so children all with smiles on their faces. They were happy to see us. We talked with them for a few minutes as they shared their stories with us. They wanted to work and wanted to support their families. They wanted to have a better life for their children.

I made a decision right then and there that I would do something that would have an impact on their lives, and in the lives of other people in the Philippines. I vowed to go back and partner with churches and businesses to feed the poor, and to teach them new skills so they will be able to get jobs and support their families. I have been taught that you can give a man a fish and feed him for a meal, or you can teach him to fish and he will feed himself for a lifetime.

This is where I need your help. I will be going back on July 9 to help these children and their families. By doing this one thing you will help change lives. What is that one thing? You can help by giving your best gift to help change the life of a child, a family, and a community. You can make a difference in the world. You can help change the life of someone.

I want to ask you to give your best gift now. I need your help. These families need your help. These are real people just like you and I who were left alone with no one to care for them. I care for them and I know that you care for them, too. Please don't delay. Give your best gift now.

Can you give $10, $20, $50 or even $1,000? Your very best gift of any amount will go towards helping feed children and their families, as well as will help teach them new skills to either get a job, or to learn how to start a business so they can earn an income to feed their families. Please give your best gift today.

Feeding the Poor and Training Leaders

5/8/2014

I am excited to share that I will be flying to the Philippines in July to minister to the poor and train leaders.  Evangelist Abraham Thomas will be meeting me in the Philippines and we will minister together.  This is significant because we will be conducting four leadership training workshops to approximately 600 plus pastors, church leaders and business leaders.

We will also be conducting an evangelist meeting and feeding over 600 people who are desperate to hear the Gospel and to change their lives. We will feed them spiritually, physically and will provide hygiene kits to them, which consists of a toothbrush, a tube of toothpaste, dental floss and a wash cloth. The area where we will be is close to the area that was devastated in November 2013 by Typhoon Yolanda.

There are many who are desperate for change, change in their community and change in their country.  We will have the opportunity to train leaders to initiate positive change and to make a difference in the lives of others. These pastors, church leaders and business leaders have welcomed the opportunity for us to be there and teach them leadership principles that are proven to help facilitate the change they are seeking.

We need your help. I am hurting right now, hurting that many in the Philippines are hungry, hurting and feel helpless as their own government is not helping to relieve their pain. Church pastors and leaders are hurting because their resources are limited as they minister to the poor, sharing the Gospel. The poor are rebuilding their lives after a devastating typhoon destroyed their homes and their lives.

We are going to show the love of God to a hurting nation. We are going to show them that God cares for them and their tears are not in vain. We are going to make a difference in the lives of the Filipinos who are looking for answers, seeking help from someone who cares enough to go and are crying out to the Lord for help.

I am asking you to partner with the Lord as we go to help feed the poor and train leaders to facilitate change in their cities, in their Providences and in their country. The Filipinos need not only your prayers, they need your financial support. It takes money for us to go. It takes money to minister to the poor. It takes money to feed the hungry, help the widows and orphans. It takes money to train uncommon leaders.

Will you partner with the Lord? Will you give to make a difference in the life of someone? Will you sow your best gift? Will you be one who can sow $1,000 or more? Sow your best gift to make a difference in the life of a child, a parent, a widow, and orphan.

Your gift no matter how large or small, will make a difference. Thanking you in advance.

Blessings,

Tom
