Last night Josie and I met with a group of pastors and church leaders at Evangelical Baptist Church, Los Banos, Philippines. We heard an inspiring message by Lorence Saleedo, Missions Pastor of EBC about Biblical Missions from Matthew 28:18 - 20, and what our responsibility is.  Mark 16:15 tells us to "Go ye into all the world, and preach the gospel to every creature."
Then we are to baptize them and teach them what Jesus commanded us to do.

Josie and I are involved in day to day personal evangelism, and soon we will be going throughout Los Banos and the nation of the Philippines to preach the Gospel.  EBC is involved in 12 missions projects and we will be involved in some of them as well.

The Lord has given us a great vision for the Philippines, and for Asia.  We will be preaching throughout the nation of the Philippines sharing the Gospel and winning souls to Christ.  Another great project that we will be involved in is to build a modern community center in Los Banos to be used for educational purposes.  It will be Christ centered in its teachings.  We will be having computer classes to teach people new skills and possibly even a certification program in computer science to help those who need those types of skills to get a job or to get a better paying job.

We will also be teaching job skills classes, classes on how to get a job or a better job and classes on business skills for those who want to start their own business.  Our goal is to help bring change in the Philippines spiritually and economically.  Please keep this as a matter of prayer as it will take many partners to see this become a reality.  I want to be a blessing to the nation of the Philippines by showing them the love of God.
.

"BIG DIFFERENCE, LITTLE DONATION: Great news! We are reaching the people of the Philippines one donation at a time. You can make a difference with just 30 dollars. Today, We are asking 10 of our partners to make a donation of 30 dollars each. Will you be one of the 10? We need your support to achieve this $300 goal."

Would you help feed a hungry child?  We will be going into two poor communities to feed hungry families and we need your help.  Your gift of just $30 a month will help get necessary food to these families who are hurting.  Just $30 is only the cost of dinner for two and your generous gift will help make a difference in the life of a family and a child.

As we go and share the Gospel with them, we want to show them the love of God by providing food to them.  Your generous gift of only $30 will help.  Please give today.

What I am Learning About Life Here in the Philippines

Sunday I had the honor of praying over the children a LB Evangelical Baptist Church in Los Banos, Laguna, Philippines.  These children are the future of the Philippines.  I encouraged the parents to teach them the Word of God and raise them with the standards they were raised with.

Last night Josie and I attended the memorial service of a former pastor of her church.  Josie is friends with the family and she shared stories with the family of how Pastor Roel Betia touched her life.  It was both a sad and happy occasion for the family and friends.  Sad because he will be missed greatly.  Happy because he is now with Jesus and is no longer suffering from sickness and disease.  We thank God for his life and the legacy he left for his family and friends to remember him by.

Whenever we are faced with the death of a loved one it gives us the time to reflect on life and death.  Life is short and many times we get wrapped up in the things of life that distract us from what really matters.  Your family matters.  Don't ever forget that.  Many times we neglect our family because we are chasing our dreams of a better life and forget that your family is part of that better life.

Getting that next big promotion at work really doesn't matter if you are neglecting your wife or husband and your children.  Spend more quality time with your wife or husband.  Take time to get to know your children.  Do you even know the favorite color of your daughter or your son?  Do you know their favorite song, or their favorite book or movie?  When was the last time you sat down with your children and read a book to them and then discussed what was the important lesson to learn from what was just read?

Another lesson that I learned is that the memories you give your family matter.  What memories are you leaving your wife or husband and your children?  Are they good memories or bad memories?  We all go through challenging times in our life.  Even through the bad times we can leave everlasting good memories of having worked together to get through the bad times.  Let those challenges empower you and let you be the one to teach those lessons to your children on how to overcome life's challenges.

Take time to slow down and enjoy life.  In America we live in a fast paced society where we want it fast, and we want it now.  We rush to get up in the morning, rush to eat breakfast and then rush off to work.  Then we spend time in rush hour traffic as we rush to work hoping to get there in time.  We rush through our day working to make someone else happy and rich while we are stressed and getting burnt out in the process.  Most of our relationships and friendships are only temporary, yet we do more to please them than we do to help make our family happy.

We then rush home exhausted so we can rush to eat dinner and then watch the negative news on TV that really doesn't matter.  Does this vicious cycle look familiar?

Here in the Philippines life is much different.  They live a much slower paced life that includes family relationships and actually knowing their neighbors.  Life here is much less stressful and their philosophy is family first.  Yes, they are hard working people, but they put their family first.  They have a philosophy that if your work is not completed today, you can complete it tomorrow, no worries.

Yesterday morning Josie and I went to the bank and we arrived a few minutes before it opened.  There were 68 people in line ahead of us.  How did I know that?  I had number 1069, so that is how I know.  No one in the bank was in a hurry for anything.  I am not good at waiting in long lines.  As we were sitting and waiting for our number to be called, I was complaining to Josie about having to wait to do a simple transaction that at any bank in America would take all of about 2 - 3 minutes, yet here I am having to wait in a long line.  I reminded her that I was losing money every minute I sat here doing nothing.

Thankfully Josie was not persuaded by my complaining and just smiled at me and said it will be all right.  While I was reflecting on the moment it suddenly dawned on me that me waiting really didn't matter.  What mattered most was that I was spending time getting to know Josie better and having a great conversation while waiting.  Quality time with someone you love matters most.

I wanted to share this with you and encourage you to reflect on what matters most in your life.  Don't take life too seriously, take time to pray and thank the Lord for what you have, forgive others quickly, live life to the fullest and laugh often!

Happy in the Lord,

Tom

Your generous gift of any amount will go toward the spreading of the Gospel, and in the feeding of hungry families in the Philippines. We are a non-profit, tax exempt ministry and your donation is tax deductible as allowed by IRS guidelines. Please give your gift of $10, $20, $25, $50, $100 or any other amount that you designate.

I had the privilege of sharing the Gospel at LB Evangelical Baptist Church, Los Banos, Laguna, Philippines this morning.  What an honor!  Two men rededicated their lives to the Lord.

Yesterday Josie and I attended a church planting workshop in Santa Cruz with other pastors and church leaders.  There is a great need for churches to be planted in all of the Philippines, as we discovered that there are some areas that have no church.

"Then saith he unto his disciples, The harvest truly is plenteous, but the labourers are few;  Pray ye therefore the Lord of the harvest, that he will send forth labourers into his harvest."  - Matthew 9:37, 38

My mission is to share the Gospel everywhere I go in the Philippines, and in Asia.  The Lord is opening doors for us to go.

Josie and I have partnered together to share the Gospel. Eventually we will plant a church here in Los Banos, Laguna, Philippines.  We have also partnered with business leaders and other churches to feed families in designated areas by bringing them food. This is a great undertaking that the Lord has placed on our hearts and we take it very seriously.

The Lord has placed the Filipinos on my heart to help change lives. We can only do it with the help of our partners who share the burden of souls with us. This is a lifetime undertaking and vision given to me by the Lord. I have a great responsibility to share the Gospel. The fire is burning inside of me and I am compelled to share the truth of the Gospel.

Will you partner with us and help us as we go about sharing the Gospel to others?  Many people are dying and there is no one to tell them about Jesus in some areas of the country.  Please consider helping us with your gift.  Your gift of any amount will help us get the Gospel our to the nation of the Philippines, and will help feed families who are hungry.  Please give today, as souls are depending on us to tell them the Good News of the Gospel of Jesus Christ.  Thank you for your generous support.  God bless you.

In His love,
Tom
