His birth was announced by angels to shepherds who were watching their flocks at night. "For unto you is born this day in the city of David a Savior, which is Christ the Lord." (Luke 2:11)
Wise men came from the east to Jerusalem to see Jesus. They recognized him as the King of the Jews (Luke 2:2). Because they recognized him as King they bowed down and worshiped him, opened their treasures and gave him gifts of gold, frankincense, and myrrh.
As we celebrate the birth of Jesus let's not forget to give a gift of love to recognize Jesus as the King of kings, and Lord of lords. We give gifts to our family and friends, so why not give a gift to Jesus?
